Writing: Summarise Written test (SWT) (上)
PTE Writing 難度較其他部份相對較低，主要挑戰係時間控制。
考試入面大概有2-3題 SWT，每題獨立計時，限時10分鐘。
要將短文改寫成一句通順既短句，10分鐘其實係趕既，所以先講講分配時間。
10分鐘可以分配如下:
1) 花1- 1.5分鐘速讀短文
2) 用3-4 分鐘在每節中找出重點，寫成一短句
3) 用3-4 分鐘將幾個短句編排成為一個完整句子
4) 用 1- 1.5分鐘作校對
1) 實際操作我會舉一個例子，先來一篇短文:

Under these new orders –
which are some of the most restrictive since the country when into a partial

In the last week 71 new cases have been reported, an increase from the 48
infections from the week prior, however it’s the 15 unlinked cases that have
caused authorities the most concern. Strains of the Indian, South African, UK
and Brazil variants, which have been deemed more infectious, were also detected
among these cases. “A pattern of local unlinked community cases has emerged and
is persisting,” read a statement from Singapore’s health ministry. “We need to
act decisively to contain these risks as any one leak could result in an
uncontrolled resurgence of cases.”

呢個步驟就係斷捨離，將每段最重要既訊息選出。某些細節，例如日期，個案數目，其實唔係重點，一般也可省略。21- day quarantine我則給予保留，因為 21- day quarantine 和 quarantine對句子結構影響不大，咁我就會揀資料較多既一個。
SWT既重點就係保持答案句子流暢。在保持句子流暢既前提下，就可以加入細節。SWT易犯既錯誤係貪心，唔捨得一些非重點細節，影響左句子結構。
另外，我也會偶爾加入一些原文沒有，但可以言簡意駭地點出文意既生字，例如implement。一來呢個字用法比較靈活，可以active voice ，e.g. Singorean government will implement xxx measures ，又可以 passive voice, e.g. Measures willb eimplemented。如果之後句子要調動會比較方便。二來SWT有生字分，拋一些懂用既生字，對分數會有好處。
(3) 將每個重點句子串聯成單句

我選擇將最後一段分拆為二，以Following an increase....作開頭， increase in cases of infection, in particular unlinked case 太複雜，明顯unlinked case比較重要，所以做左省略。 working-from-home orders既 orders似乎也非必要。COVID-19 panademic中既pandemic係noun，我就偷左佢個字，改改用法，用pandemic既adjective form, 寫成 pandemic resurgence。一方面COVID-19 pandemic已經無位放，另一方面，pandemic又可能係一個計分既生字，所以一於兩全其美，既保留句子流暢，又找個方法讓呢個生字重生。
